The SSD is actually the iSSD of the system. It usually is used for express cache. If you have that enabled, or other software using the iSSD, this will cause your issue.

You do not have an SSD in that system. The small nand chip you have is for cache purposes only.

You will need to install the Intel smart response caching software (or the variation applicable to your notebook) to enable the caching drive to work again.

    See:

Or, it may already be working...

If you're re-booting your system and you're noticing longer boot up times - this is normal with Win10.

If you've enabled Hibernation and do a shut down and cold boot, after a few iterations you will see a substantial reduction in boot up time. Rebooting is what is slow, not a cold reboot with Win10. But it requires Hibernation to be enabled.

On one system (w/HDD) with Win7, boot up took about 180 seconds. After upgrading to Win10 on that system and doing a shutdown/cold boot cycle about 3 or 4 times, booting up the system (from 'off') was a 15 second wait.

I suggest disabling/removing that 24GB nand chip and simply using full shut down instead (if you have 8GB RAM or more...).

    Good luck.

Indeed as everyone has said, that is a cache SSD... You should isntall the driver for it from the Samsung website if it isn't installed.... I own the 13.3" model and that cache SSD makes the boot times slightly bareable...
