As with any SSD based off of SandForce controllers...they are unreliable, known to have bugs, and should only be used in conjunction with frequent backups of personal data.

The only SandForce based SSD I would consider purchasing is the Intel 520 (and even then I'm waiting a few months to see how others do with it) which according to AnandTech has gone through a year of testing, validation, and firmware fixes that (supposedly) resolve the bugs that Intel found (and said fixes will be exclusive to Intel-SandForce products for the time being).

As far as defragmentation is concerned, that guy is an idiot. Drive access latency, in theory, is constant across the entire SSD. I do remember reading about some SF products that do experience a permanent degradation of performance once the drive reaches full capacity but it's my understanding that "feature" is unique to SandForce based products.

If you want to read up a bit more about the 2281 controller check this article out. Keep in mind that the firmware tweaks and fixes he talks about in the article are exclusive to the Intel 520. If it is a bug that Intel fixed, it's a bug that still exists in most other SandForce products.

    Intel 520 Review

Thats what i thought, SSD don't need defragmentation.
So whats best SSD to buy at moment or should i wait ?
I don't need it now, just that my lappy is dragging of HDD performance really bad.
    Thanks for replay.

I just edited my post above to include a little more detail. Refresh the page and re-read :D. Personally, I'd stick with Samsung SSDs or the Intel SSDs (except for maybe the 520 which is relatively unproven).
