    SSD Installion Help.

    I just bought an OEM Intel 320 160GB SSD for a great price. I was gonna go for the 510, but this was too big of a bargain so I went for it.

    I'm still missing the screws, but I wanted to get a step-by-step instructional on how to install and get it running at optimal performance.

    Install in what sense? If you mean physically installing it into your laptop, we'll need to know what kind of laptop you have. If you mean software (your OS, drivers, etcetera) it's just a matter of using your recovery discs,

    I recommend a clean install to get rid of all the bloat, but the recovery discs will do too. If you want to do a clean install, get the installers for the most up to date versions of your drivers and apps.

    Install windows, the drivers then your apps.

    For the driver installation order, i suggest chipset, then video drivers, intel's AHCI drivers and the rest in whichever order. Before you start surfing the web, make sure to install your AV.

    There might also be some software coming from laptop's manufacturer that you will want. An example of such is the ATK package for Asus laptops.

    I've rid most of my bloat, so I'm kind of leaning towards taking the easiest way to just move everything from my HDD to the SSD.
    Any tips?

    Borrow someone's dock or enclosure and start manually moving things back over.

    You could always attempt to clone your drive over to the SSD, but I wouldn't recommend it. If I remember right, there might be problems arising from... dammit I forgot what exactly it was. I think it's alignment.

    I always do clean installs and move things back over via enclosure or wireless (from my server), so someone with experience with cloning should chime in.

    Use, Intel Migration Tool. Lot of guides are on youtube. It will clone your HDD to SSD and do aligmnet in proper way.

    I have replaced HDDs with SSDs in two computers now and imaged the data with Acronis True Image. It aligns the partitions correctly on the SSD and as long as you manually disable defrag, there shouldn't be any issues. Performance has not suffered that I can tell.
