    Hello,

I own a Vaio S series laptop (model VPCSA3DGX). The laptop came with a HDD installed so I changed it with a SSD. The problem is, I read many posts saying that SSD performs better when the SATA AHCI mode is enabled.

However, when I get into the laptop's BIOS (version R2086H4) there no SATA option! Sony must have locked this option which is really frustrating...

Therefore my SATA has the RAID configuration enabled (Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller). Will this damage my SSD? If so, is there any way to unlock the SATA options in BIOS?

    Many thanks in advance.

If you have the Intel RST 9.6 or newer installed, RAID or AHCI mode doesn't matter.
