No!!!~!!!! Think the wife would mind? In looking at previous CES years, she has commented on how all of the oems like to keep a 'fresh face' at the booths and Samsung especially. She then questioned why most invitation only events that we were invited to all stated "No Spouses". eheheh

Married 25 years and 15 days today...but the AVN thing might be worth a walk through especially since we are accredited press eheh.

Do they always happen at the same time as CES ? Well, they are usually the pioneer in using the latest technology for consumer electronics. Just wondering what they have done to blue-ray or iPad or Kinect :)

Yes. Last year it's next door event.

BTW back to the topic, anyone know how to check SSD data read/write amount?

Not sure about read but there should be a 'host write' SMART attribute. That is what my Intel toolbox is using to check my lifetime write.

No idea then, the smart attribute is E1, I think there are some third party applications(SSD Live?) that read that. Though I read on OCZ that Sandforce drive had problem with some of these SMART attributes(not showing the right value) but that was a few firmware back.

Have you tried what you mentioned? Does it work and restore the drive to is former SPEED?

Corsair Nova(Indilinx) or x25m G2 don't need the harsh SE treatment though. Both response nicely to either manual or automatic TRIM.

SE is needed for SandForce to reset the DuraWrite counter.

I think there is a program you can run, at least that is the case for OCZ branded indilinx drive. But if you are running W7, it should not be an issue as it doesn't need reconditioning at all(TRIM is done by W7).

he said use search, you'll find it instantly.

btw, my intel is slow on one system, but it has bitlocker activated. anyone knows how bitlocker affects performance? it doesn't feel snappy and gets very low crystaldiskmarks. it's not the behaviour of "the typical pm55/hm55 issue", i checked for that (found the info thanks to search)

I did the JJB tweak and my 4K performance jumped up by 50%

Overall all the CDM results show equal or above results than safe mode test results.

Try these tweaks to maximize your SSD performance. It's what I've done. Granted I'm running a RAID 0 setup with two intels, but here is a screen shot of before I tweaked anything, till when I was done tweaking everything.

    Tweaks:

Tweak the OS with these tweaks on page one: Installing an SSD? tips/tricks/benchmarks, as well as Les' SSD optimization guide. Then use JBBs tweak How To Improve SSD performance on Intel Series 4, 5, 965 Chipsets (JJB Tweak) .

Another Guide I think related to the JBB Tweak: Guide

Then install Intel® Rapid Storage Technology I downloaded the top one on the list. Then opened it up after it installed, and clicked enable for "write-back cache:

These are the tweaks I followed and my speeds went from this:

To this, my current SSD RAID 0 setup designed for everyday use

Can you elaborate? What all did you do? What are your benches? Kinda need something to go on. I'm assuming this is the HP 8540w? Did you tryin running Crystal Disk Mark while iTunes ran playing a song in the back ground? Or something to put a light load on the CPU? Maybe try the bench running wPrime with a single thread at the same time. Seems to show a boost in performance for me when I load the CPU by running wPrime 1024 single thread for me.

i understand about wprime but having to do this is crazy because basically it shows that when needed , the full cpu perf is not availlable on regular ssd use ....
for the tweaks i was on it 2 dayz ....

didi all teh maintance tweaks , installed the intel drivers and utilitys 'ssd tools , maintance center ) preftech ....disbaled, defrag disable , max perf power scheme ......i mean the list is long .....the only bost i have on 4k is when i do the jdd tweaks....

one more things ,i'm trying now to manage partitions and since theyweaks i have a error message wxhen i try to use resize parttions on windows disk manager ....is anybody is the defrag disbaling in services is the cause ?

You won't need to secure erase, just commenting on what maximinimaus said.

Secure erase basically wipes the drive to put it back in "like new" state. SSD's degrade in performance over time, nature of the beast. But I wouldn't worry much about WEI score of 0.1 difference. It could have been borderline 7.6 before, and I don't give much weight to that bench anyhow.

Ok thks .....my score after 2 run went back at 7.7 ...m mmmm Windows so impredictable ...

So the thing is that with all the tweak i made , it's supposed to keep the ssd perf safe right ? or i done this for nothing ?

This ssd thing is getting on my nerve , i have stayed away until it's really good and it seems that integration of this babay is so wak .....for people like us it's ok cause we pationnate by computer but imagine a regular guy .....

Or sometime i think ingnorance is the key for being cool , not stressing .....why do we have to run tests and all ....

you've done this for nothing. an ssd just works. most don't get this.

and about the integration: plug in, install os, use it. that works for the regular guy. it's actually the pationnate ones who often fail at actually going the simple way and enjoy their products.

Plus not a great idea to bench all the time. For one you can obsess over it when it usually doesn't make much of a difference for day to day tasks, not to mention unneeded wear on your SSD.

pro audio here .....realtime streaming IS an obssession here ....my WD is performing just half of what i got in read ....and the burst is better on my WD and the writes is about the same except on the 4K where the ssd smokes it ...

I expected much ...maybe i should listen to my heart and go vertex 2 but my reason told me stick with Intel and its experiences in high quality stuff ...
