    Hello,

I have a T510 with 64-bit Win 7 Prof. It has a 120G SSD (G.SKILL Phoenix). For quite a long time, it worked just fine and came back to work easily from the hibernate mode.

For the past two months, I see an irregular problem. Sometimes my T510 comes back from the hibernate mode correctly, and sometimes, it simply hang in there without any response if I click any of the applications at the bottom application bar. Does anybody have a clue about this problem?

Recently, I started putting my T510 into sleep mode each time when I need to put it into my bag. I find it convenient to do so and T510 always works when it wakes up and I have an instantly working computer. I would like to ask the gurus here whether constantly putting T510 in sleep mode (never hibernate or shut it down) could bring any damage to a computer.

    Thanks and best!

Known problem for SSD. Someone do tweak in registry to solve this. look on OCZ forum or Gskill if it exists.

James, thanks for your input. Will look for that.

Do you think that my habit of putting T510 in sleep mode when not using it would be a problem to the computer in the long-run?

    Regards.

It would be if you've had HDD. I think it is not a problem, just make sure battery is not empty before put it in the bag

Huh? Using sleep mode on a platter drive is bad now?

I have both SDD and 500G HDD. The SSD is the one for system software and reboot.

Regarding original question: yes, this is a known issue with (I believe) some SandForce drives. To get more feedback, I will be moving this thread to the SSD forum, as this is not Thinkpad model-specific.

No, it won't be an issue. Just make sure you have settings such as "Wake on LAN" disabled, so it doesn't spontaneously wake up in-transit.

With HDD or not, it's not going to be an issue. The HDD/SSD is off when in sleep mode, so it's no different than when the laptop is off.

Yes this is a common Sandforce problem. It should be solved by installing the latest firmware. Are you running the latest firmware?

If you are I think you should contact G.Skill.

MidnightSun, thanks very much for your information. It is always a pleasure to read your posts!

    Cheers!

Phil, thank you for helpping me out.

Where to find out this firmware info on my T510?

Do you happen to have a pointer to the latest firmware download?

    Regards.

Phil is correct. check the firmware first.

Also check your AHCI driver. The common concensus is that the stock MSAHCI drive exhibit much less problem than the Intel RST 9.x series and Intel RST 10.x series also greatly reduce the problem.

Though it seems that there are still rare situation that this problem persist. If you have tried the latest firmware and the above mentioned drivers, the sad fact is your laptop is not compatible with SF.

I meant the firmware for the SSD. Check G.Skill's website or search Google.

if possible, just let us know if it finally works. It may help others who want to try SF based SSD.

If it works, at least we know that the T510 model is compatible with SF.
