    Hi,

I am wanting to update my 256 Samsung SSD firmware from VBM24D1Q to VBM25D1Q. There are pdf instructions with the files but I am unsure how i would get windows back on the drive again if the update wipes everything on it.

If anyone has done this or can point me in the direction of a firmware update guide, it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Firmware updates won't wipe your hard drive, just follow the instructions.

    Some firmware updates are destructive.

I'm not sure these SSD firmware updates come with any kind of warnings and even if they wipe your hard drive it's their responsibility and let them sort it out.

The Samsung PM800 firmware VBM25D1Q update is destructive.
I strongly advice to do a backup of the partition(s).

Anytime you flash a storage device, whether or not that device is solid-state or traditional rotating disk, you really should have a complete backup in hand.
