I just purchased a budget laptop to last me a year or so, however I am looking to upgrade the SSD. The reason is that I can always port the SSD over to another machine. The laptop that's coming is the ASUS U56E-BBL6.

Basically, I can't find any information on whether this laptop supports SATA III. If it does not, is there still any appreciable benefit to buying an SSD?

    Currently, I'm looking at either:

    1. Samung 830 128gb
    2. Crucial M4 128gb

Edit: Is the 2.5" drive the right size for laptops?

    Thoughts?

Yes it has a 6 series chipset, so it does support SATAIII

Either of those drives are a good choice, m4 more so as it is as fast as its larger 256GB brothers,

    yes 2.5"
