I'm deciding between the samsung 470 128gb and the intel 160gb(either x-25m or 320series not sure)

I'm wondering if the increase in space (32gb) and the speed(if any, not sure) justifies for the extra 100 dollars?

    Opinions? suggestions? Thanks

no, in my book. 128GB is enough for standard windows installation(and if you need more, 32GB is not going to make a difference) and there isn't that much speed difference among SSDs.

You might read up a bit on the Intel vs Samsung, speed-wise. I have a 128G Samsung SSD that came stock in a new W700 I bought directly from Lenovo early last year. I later picked up another W700 second hand, where the seller had upgraded the SSD to an Intel 160G. I don't remember model numbers on either, but the Intel definitely was faster on some I/O testing I did.

Btw, both SSDs work quite well :) No issues...and the Samsung is actually fast enough for what I do. It's in my main box W700 and the Intel is in a backup W700.

Have you thought about getting an mSATA SSD? That's a good combination of speed for your OS and apps with storage for your files.

I would choose intel over any other brand. They have the best reputation for reliability. I'm basing this off Allyn Malventano's opinions, he's a writter for PCper.com.

As the other guys said, intel's mSATA might be worth considering if you need the space of a large harddrive + ssd.
