So im thinking of ugprading to an SSD when Windows 7 comes out, and have been perusing the web for information/reviews/etc.

I came across this article about various drives, and started looking at the X25-M. It's reasonably priced and seems to perform better than average on most tests.

To save even more money, I was looking at at getting the 80GB version (whereas they review the 160GB version). Is this basically like buying a different harddrive, or would I be getting similar performance?

Im looking at the 80GB x25-M G2 for about $320 CAD. Are there any drives superior to this for similar (or better) value?

The 80GB X25-M and the 160GB X25-M should have very similar performance. You might also want to consider the OCZ Vertex or Agility series SSDs, if they are price competitive for you.

I am very happy with my SSD drive, I have not had a problem with mine. Go for it! It is like the best upgrade you can do for loading times, fast and responsive laptop now....
