Which is the better one to go to. I know intel advertises themselves as: though not the most cost effective, but the most reliable and fastest.

    Whos better?

In terms of performance and in terms of longevity.

The OCZ ones are pretty cheap now. @ 100 bucks for say a 64gb SSD its doable for any PC owner, for use in say the main boot drive. Why not everyone jump onto the SSD bandwagon. Nobody really needs that much memory anyway, and if you do get an external drive or put in an extra drive in the ultrabay.

Decent OCZ starts with Indilinx controlled Vertex. Cheapest they go for is > ~$218 for 60GB on ebay. A 250GB-per-platter HDD won't have stuttering issues that plagued jmicron based OCZ SSD. This link shows the controllers used by many of the SSDs.

Actually OCZ Agility is a cheaper version of the vertex. Same controller slightly slower flash. But you can get a supertalent ultradrive me or gskill falcon for less than Agility and it still uses the faster flash. Also probably the best buy right now in the 64gb range is the supertalent masterdrive sx for $172 on new egg. I uses the second generation samsung MLC controller.

I'm maybe waitng for SanDisk to come out with the new G3 ssd's. They shoulda been out in march!

AVOID OCZ or any drive USING A JMICRON CONTROLLER. Takes a lot to get them working so you don't notice the disadvantages... and even then....

Currently the only drives worth looking at use controllers made by either indilinx, samsung, or intel. and indilinx is kind of a wild card that ended up working out quite nicely it seems.
