Ok i tried searching help for this common problem from everywhere and i still can't find a solution. Is there a working firmware for this exact version?

    ST9320423AS
    FW: 0002SDM1

problem: yep the same as everyone seems to have. HDD has the clicking due the log writing problem or something. While it happens, the disk activity goes to max and the comp stucks for a second or two. Very very annoying.

i was so hoping that this http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4823391&postcount=35 would be the solution but it doesnt seem to fit my disk exactly since i have the 23 instead of 21. Can i still use this or is there a newer version somewhere?

    Thanks!

No, do not use a firmware not intended for your drive, you would trash it.
Sounds like a defective hard drive, why not RMA it?

cant imagine how is this possible, seagate used to be good, what has happened?

hope this thing is really harmless but actually I've read that turning off the Advanced Power Management (APM) solves this clicking and freezing thing

after one day usage with APM off problem seems to be solved without any firmware update

I can't find the firmware, but my Seagate 500GB (not XT) in my Sager had a loud chirping and slowdown periodically. A firmware update fixed it, but can't find the link now. This was about a year ago.

No it was a 7200RPM. I think I might have had to use a Dell firmware or something. If you find one just make sure your model number matches up EXACTLY as the ones listed in the readme. Otherwise you could brick your drive.
