    Hello.

    I've been wanting to get a new netbook/laptop.

    My friend got the Acer Timeline i'm impressed wiht it.
    However, I heard that Acer will be releasing a Core 2 Solo version SU9400 cpu. I might wait for that.

    However, I saw the MSI X-series. There is one equipped iwht SU3500 for $750- or so. one with Atom Z530 is $550.

    Is one significantly better than the other? The 2 netbooks aren't any different excewpt the CPU.

    Thanks

    wowowo. after looking at nvidia's ion video, i dont even want to get any of those 2... lol, in hte mean time, does anyone if it will ever be integrated into the netbook/laptop market:?

    i'm also going to look at the "pineview" (I think it's called) platform, it looks very promising as well

    SU3500 has a lot more power than Z530. But neither will play Youtube HD afaik. You need SU9400 for that.

    SU3500= single-core SU9400.
    cpumark SU9400=934 , assume SU3500 will be half of that = 467-500
    cpumark Z530=304

    TDP (battery consumption) at Max load
    SU3500=5.5W
    Z530=2W

    NOTE: SU9400/SU3500 are 800Mhz FSB cpus so are superlfm capable. Means they can drop FSB to 100Mhz to conserve power.

    Summary:
    SU9400 > SU3500 > Z530 (performance)
    SU9400 > SU3500 > Z530 (power consumption *at full load*)

    thanks for the answers!
    well then, i guess i rather go with the acer. i'll probably wait for the su9400 version (anyone know when will this be re-stocked/released? lol)

    But are there portable PCs like the MSI X-Series, and Acer Timeline in the market? It looks like Acer Timeline is the cheapest thin laptop that uses DDR3, with a low voltage cpu.

    i didn't see anything like this... hm, anyone know a similar laptop?
    I don't think I'm getting the MSI X-series i rather get a 13 inch macbook pro or the macbook unibody secondhanded for that price.

    12.1" Lenovo X200s, Dell E4200 and HP 2530P have SU9xxx cpu options.
    Can check Lenovo/Dell outlet and ebay for deals.

    This market is fairly new. Asus will release it's CULV platform soon. UX30 for example.

    Acer is going to introduce an 11.6" Timeline.

    wow, those are expensive. i guess either wait for the 9400 timeline or macbook/macbook pro for me lol.

    the ux30 and ux50 even seems very expensive... I don't need it extremely thin, macbook/macbook pro thickness is perfect though, I couldn't find a low/mid ranged laptop 13-16" that had thickness of macbook or macbook pro. (around $6-700 usd)

    i don't hink I'm going to get the 11.6" timeline lol it's way to small for my preferences.
