I'm looking to build an SXGA laptop for Windows 7, as I'm a developer and the current widescreen Windows laptop screens are lacking for developing. 768 pixel height is a downgrade for me, as I was using 1024 on a previous-generation laptop, which gave me more lines of code and a better view for websites. The current 768 screens don't even show the full Flash window on a lot of sites. Widescreen is useless for me as I don't watch movies on my laptop, I watch them on my 42" TV, and I don't need the extra width for websites or coding software.
I am new to building laptops, but is it possible to build an SXGA laptop with Windows 7? MacBooks are OK with 800 pixel height, but they are less compatible with software and expensive.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Unfortunately XGA/SXGA/UXGA/QXGA really died with Pentium M's. T4x series ThinkPads, T6x are the last to offer it. Dell Latitude D600/D610/D800/D810 are the last Latitudes to offer 4:3 screens.
Yes you can run Windows 7 fine on a T6x series ThinkPad if you get them without Quadro graphics (T6x housed the defective Nvidia chips). Is 4:3 really necessary? WUXGA or WSXGA+ are just as good. -

I'd look for a quality 1080p panel.
