Well I just bought a Sager NP5790 with the following specs:

    -17" WUXGA (1920x1200)
    -T7700 4MB 2.4 GHz
    -Nvidia Geforce 8700 GT 512MB
    -4GB Dual Channel
    -Vista Ultimate
    -200GB 7200RPM HD

My question is that I have been hearing a lot of talk about getting the 7950 GTX card and then upgrading it down the road because of the MXM system. I am really sort uninformed as to whether my card (8700 GT) is also utilizing the MXM system so that I could change it out in the future? Or is it a feature for just the 7950 GTX? Please if anyone knows let me know.

    Thank you.

MXM means your computer has a slot which you can swap out the the gpu, its a feature of the laptop not of the gpu, so basically yes you can upgrade.

Yes, there is a MXM type IV for the 5790 that also supports the 8700M GT version of the card. But unless you absolutely need DX10 atm, and you really don't, then I'd wait and see if they release the 8700GTX Ultra later for your notebook. That would be the card to upgrade to.
