I'm seriously wanting to pick up an NP5790 right now (with an 8700M in it):
    http://www.sagernotebook.com/product_customed.php?pid=693

However, the 8700M seems like a little bit of a letdown when running at the native res (1600x..), so I'd like to upgrade it to an 8800M when it comes out. (The 8800M specs arenm't yet releases AFAIK, but it is expected to be a decent step up for GPU's, but I'm hoping it'll be the same PCI (MXM...?) slot and under similar power and sapce requirements...

But obviously nothing will be known until release.

Still, I'm hoping the more knowledgable about notebook upgrading will have a sense of history about this, and be able to make reasonable guesses.

ie: If theres a very good chance I'll be able ot upgrade to an 8800M or better down the road, I'll buy right now; if its a very low chance, or a known No Way, I'll have to wait another half year (sigh ;)

    Any thoughts?

An 8800M seems a far bit off, and whats more likely is the 8700M GTX. Clevo has always been good on designing notebooks, which keep future upgrade paths open, so its still possible that newer graphics card can still be supported. However, like you've already mentioned, its difficult to say with certainty.

8800M, 8700M GTX, all speculation. No one even knows if they will release them at all, because they might just ride the current models out until they release mobile G92 cards.
