I have a sager np8150 with a dying 6990m in it right now. I found a couple 6970m's on ebay for $200 and was wondering if it would be interchangeable with the 6990m? Thanks

I'm pretty sure that would work fine, though someone with one of those machines could probably tell you with more certainty. Sager's are generally pretty good about GPU support, but the general rule is still that if it was an option on the laptop at some point to buy from the factory, it won't cause an issue, and I believe that was an option at one point or another.

It should 100% work if it is a Clevo card. You might need to jump through hoops of it is an Alienware card (Alienware vBios).

Why not spend a bit more and get a 7970M? That will be much better hopeless less likely to die :D

Don't 7970M's have a high failure rate as well? It seems like there's a new 7970M obituary every week on this forum.

From what I can see, 7970Ms are just as durable and capable as 680Ms. I've NEVER heard of a 7970M dying before. They're considerably more capable than any of the 6000 series GPUs and monstrously better than the GTX 500 GPUs too.
