I have a Sager NP9873 notebook with 2x GTX 1080 sli and i7 8700k and am wondering if I could upgrade it to i9 10900k, and if so how can I do it.

Nope Different socket. Going from an 1151to 1200 socket. 12th gen coming soon will be different yet again @ 1700.

The best you could hope for would be 9th gen and that's not a big enough boost in performance to take on the cost.

I've got an 8700K in my "server" and have been scoping out the Alder Lake setup this week as Rocket Lake didn't make sense knowing new DDR / PCI versions were coming doubling the PCI bandwidth and 1.5X on the DDR side. The overall boost going from Coffee to Alder is about 50% from cores to cards.

AL releases on the laptop side though haven't happened yet but, should be in the next couple of months.

Oh okay! Thanks for being so detailed! How about upgrading to a core i9 9900k? Money is no object so is it possible with my bios? You mean PCIe?

    Definitely doable.

Might need to install Dsanke BIOS depending on what BIOS you're running now.

Well, there's the I7 versions 9700K / 9700KF... just change the umber for the other version.

I don't dsanke so, maybe @ electrosoft will have the answer.

If you do go this route, make sure to read the flashing guide carefully and prepare for a potential unsuccessful flash which means you'll have to manually flash your system with an SPI programmer to get it up and running.

Oh thanks man! So do I just need to flash this and then I'm good to go? Also, one of my friends has an origin eon 17 slx with the same config as mine. Does that lappy automatically come with prema bios?
