I scrolled back several pages and didn't see this posted. I know many people are going ga-ga for SSDs (like myself :D ) , but I believe most of us would care about 1 TB laptop hard drives. Samsung has announced its 1TB Spinpoint MT2 2.5-inch drive to compete with WD's super size offerings. Unfortunately, like WD, the new Samsung is non standard height of 12mm so it will be relegated to portable hard drives, some exotic Clevos, and Alienware. A shame given Samsung crammed 3 platters into a standard 9mm height 2.5 inch drive to create the 1st 500GB regular height drive all those years ago. The MT2 uses 3 platters of 333GB each. The press release implies they focused on power consumption and noise reduction in lieu of raw performance.

its 12.5 mm so it can be used in some optical bays... my only concern is its small buffer and crap 5400rpm speed...
