    Hey
I found to Samsung 470 ( MZ-5PA256/US ) 256gb ssds going on Ebay these days.
The bids are at 50 & 100 $ - and i have 1 concern about these that i would like to have clarified.

The seller states: The difference between the retail 470 drive is a plastic casing instead of aluminium - the internal chips are identical to the 470.

So i know this is of course not worth as much as the aliminium one. But i'm wondering if it's a "scam". Or if it's actually worth buying. What concerns would you have about buying this instead of a drive in aluminium case?

And here are the links if you're interessted in bidding aswell:

That is the way the OEM version looks. That's correct.

But... $400 reserve, no warranty as far as I know, only 3 feedback. Seems like a bad deal to me. Samsung 470 256GB is retailing at $449 with three year warranty.

OEM also means that you will not get any warranty with Samsung or anybody else in this case.

Seller states a reserve minimum price of $400. Not a good deal I would think.

There's more than two days left in the auction, the price will shoot up. It's the nature of eBay. Regarding the casing, if you're not installing this in a desktop with an acrylic case that allows you to see the drive, it hardly matters what it looks like. Do note that OEM drives are sold with essentially no warranty, though.

I've had good luck with both my SSDs, bought off eBay, but both were from buyers with relatively good feedback. In addition, my Samsung drive was retail, with warranty remaining (my Intel was OEM, no warranty).

Seems like my positive blindness made me miss the reserve price :)
400$ for an OEM doesn't sound like a good deal to me anyways.
