I ordered that a few days ago. Should have chosen 2day or 3day shipping... but was too cheap, lol. Samsung is much faster than the Crucial though, so for $35 more I'd say its worth it, but the Crucial is a great buy too.

Must be in response to the new performance drives from OCZ and Corsair. That or maybe Samsung has the next-gen setups ready to go and they're clearing out inventory.

    Or maybe both.

Samsung SSD 830 all the way. I got one for my Z820 and am preparing to purchase the 512GB models for my AW190 and my wife's SR590. They are fast even with SATA 2. Something to note is that the Norton Ghost didn't work too well so be prepared to back up the important stuff and perform a clean install.

Just purchased my second 830 256GB for my desktop. The laptop drive is super! New desktop build

    Asus Sabertooth z77
    Intel Ivy Bridge 3770K
16 GB of Corsair Vengence DDR3-1866
Samsung 830 256 GB for OS drive and important programs
Western Digital 1TB 7200 rpm Cavar Black for D drive (Games, secondary programs)
    EVGA GTX580 SC video card

I can't wait to set the Samsung up in the desktop. Disable C1E (speedstep) and a few other settings that I cannot in my HP Envy and watch the drive SCREAM!

Which one is more reliable? Crucial m4 256GB or Samsung 830? I have a lot of important documents and don't want to lose them at all. Please advise me.

My advice, "Make sure you back up your data in ALL cases."

Does it really matter if drive A is slightly more reliable than drive B? It doesn't mean bupkis when both drives have more than a 0% chance of failure. Since, in either case, you can lose your drive, BACKUP YOUR DATA!

I was going to get an Intel 520 240GB SDD, but this Samsung price is even lower than I can get the Intel at discount. Does anyone have any insight into which drive they think is better, price not being a factor?

Yeah, not the Intel. it uses the SandForce controller, which has stability issues.

Another vote for Samsung. I might have to pick up another one for my M6600. I guess the 840 series is just around the corner. :)

I've used several models of Samsung SLC drives (both SATA and ZIF PATA), the 470, and the 830. Not a single failure, and always very fast.
