I had an older notebook that I decided to revive , the hard drive pata ide was Hitachi 7200 rpm 8mb 80GB read / write seq thru Crystal Disk mark was ~ 38mb/s / 28mb/s. I just benched Samsung HM160HC 160GB with Crystal Disk mark and it showed 60mb/s/ 60mb/s read / write...... I paid $16 for it with 1st class shipping, the seller sold out of these,,new ones are out there for those whom want to wait 2 weeks to 1 month for $13 and up.

The Hitachi replaced a Fujitsu 100GB and now it is replaced with a Samsung.

Dont toss those older notebooks out revive them.. :)
