Today Magician 4.9.7-2016-latest showed there was a firmware update for SSD 850 Pro, before I went thru the update I reinstalled/overwritten Magician with 4.9.7-2016-latest, firmware update was gone, since I have the latest installed from factory there firmware and Samsung has no firmware updates, its a glitch.

The new Firmware : EXM03B6Q from EXM02B6Q, a few have tried it, its still not listed on Samsung Site. I'm going to wait until Samsung Site has it listed.

Proceed with caution, even when it's publicly available again. The price may be the cost of your data... ;)

And also generally new Samsung firmware usually nerfs the performance of the SSD instead of improving it :D

I have never seen any SSD fw updates for the 850 Pro on the Samsung website. AFAIK 850 Pro updates can only be done through Magician. Anyway this morning I've updated my 1TB 850 Pro to EXM03B6Q and update went fine....all the hardcore animal porn is still there on my disk :biglaugh: I've noticed Win 7 boots up a touch faster so it has made some kind of difference.

Those were issues with Magician 4.4...or was it 4.5. The FW itself wasnt the problem, it was how Magician applied it. Also, Secure Erasing the drive brought the speed back to normal.

There's been several updates to Magician and several FW updates for other drives that have had no issues.

Updated the FW myself a couple days ago:

Samsung just got lucky with the last few then. :)

SE is not an option for most. Nor is it a cure for the underlying issue (bad nand/controller design). (The underlying issues that brought about the degradation will only be endlessly repeated with the next SE needed to get it back to spec's for a limited time once more. ;)

Idk if I said it to you or maybe it was in some other post on another forum, but I went from 01 to 02 when everyone was having issues. I had no problem and no speed degradation. Also, I haven't seen any posts about speed degradation on the 850 PROs other then a few when the FW update thing happened and some of them wiped their drives with Secure Erase and their speeds came back up and they never posted about any issues again.
