Hi guys. I've been looking to get a netbook for a while now and I'm thinking of pre-ordering the Samsung NC10 here... I was just wondering if it's possible to find out if the RAM is upgradable at all...

    Any ideas? Thanks!

That is a beautiful laptop, wow :D
I know its considered an ultraportable, so that means the cpu is not upgradeable. I would think the memory is upgradeable. The manufacturers usually do not solder the memory to the motherboard any more. Almsot all ultraportables use memory slots. The NC10 probably only has one slot cause of its size, so I would say it most likely can recognize 2gb of memory and thats it.

thanks for the reply! that's what I was concerned about... bizarrely some manufacturers of these netbooks do solder memory onto the motherboard, e.g. the Acer Aspire One has 512mb soldered on (but 1 empty slot for upgrade) and some are have 1GB soldered on and no slot....

I'd only want to upgrade to 2GB but need a definite yes before I buy. Would there be more detailed info on the product information sheet or other similar document?

Samsung's website doesnt have any information on the NC10, so I cant tell you for sure. Hopefully someone reviews it and can let you know.

Maybe email Samsung, but you may not get an answer back

I can't post urls, but if you google Samsung NC 10, memory upgrade, and liliputing, you'll see a post with diagrams from the Korean user's manual that show an easy access door.

Keep in mind though that XP doesn't really need more than 1GB unless you use some special apps. And if you dont need it, it's not going to make your laptop faster.

    For Vista its good though.
