Ok guys. I have the first gen Alienware M17x. Had it for almost a year. It came with the old Samsung PM800 SSD with the non-trim supported firmware. Do to all the obvious documented issues updating the FW with the drive, I eventually got AW to send me a new PM800 with the trim supported VBM9LD1Q. my read write speeds went from 80/40 with the old drive to a still crappy 140/100 according to crystal diskmark. I see others get 220/180. What is the deal? I have all the latest drivers installed and a fresh copy of W7. Any ideas or suggestions??>

140MB/s is SATA limit and not SATA II. Have you done any reinstallations of the drive or anything where u may be short drivers? Are there any alert triangles in Device Manager?

Perhaps install the new Intel RST 9.6 drivers....maybe a solution.

i just installed the drivers on dell's site. I also get stuttering issues every 5-10 minutes. It will freeze up for 5 sec or so.

actually the drive is a PB22-JS3 256gb model Samsung

What about your Power Plan selections/settings? Power saver/Balanced/High Performance, etc.?
