    Hi guys,

I just bought a new Razer Blade 14, which comes with a 256GB Samsung PM841 mSATA3 SSD. It was originally partitioned as C: with 222GB and a Recovery partition for 16GB, as well as two reserve partitions (300MB and 128MB).

I made a bootable USB copy of the recovery so I have no use of keeping the recovery partition on the SSD, so I deleted the recovery partition using diskpart in elevated CMD, but now I'm having trouble trying to merge it with my 222GB C:.

I currently have tried GParted through Ubuntu, EaseUS and Acronis and all cannot seem to add the 16GB of unallocated space to the GPT boot drive. I had to disable Secure Boot to boot to Linux, and the GParted Live USB would not work because it kept failing with fatal error: no screen.

Do you guys know how I can reclaim this 16GB so I can increase my C: to 238GB? I've never had difficulties shrinking and enlarging HDD on Win7, but Windows 8 seems to be having issues. Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Did some more digging, and apparently it's because the unallocated space is to the left of my partition, it cannot be merged into my C:. Anyone know how I can either move my partition so that unallocated space is on the right, or however else I can merge the two?

Partition Wizard Portable is not booting on my Blade...spent over hour trying to make that work, in addition to the 5 hours trying GParted Live USB, Debian Live x32 & x64, Linux Ubuntu Live USB 12.04 x32 & 13.04 x32 then finally x64, Acronis Disk Suite 10.0 & 11.0, EaseUS Personal and Professional Edition, Partition Wizard Home 8, Professional 5.0 & 7.5, Technician 7.8, and finally AOMEI Partition Assistant which finally allowed me to MERGE C drive with the in allocated space.

This was way more complicated than it should have been, simply because the in allocated space was ahead (to the left) in my partition order, while my boot drive, C:, was behind (all the way on the right). After fiddling with trying to figure how to "move" partitions, this merge function by AOMEI Partition Assistant finally solved my issues.

Hopefully if someone is googling this issue in the future, this thread can held them because god knows the 6+ hours I spent googling and testing different programs was annoyingly painful.

I have been attempting and researching this issue for about a week now on my Razer Blade 14 to merge my recovery partition with the main C: partition. I do have the AOMEI program but the PreOS mode does not run in order to complete the merge you mentioned (C: partiton with the unallocated recovery partition). How did you get the PreOS mode to run? Did you have any problems with that? I'm pulling my hair out at this point because I have tried so many things with no success.

Bump again. I feel that I have tried everything I know of aside from a reformat of the whole drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Clean install (with ALL partitions removed prior to starting O/S install) is your best option.

Not only will it recover the capacity of the partitions you don't care for - it will also ensure that the drive is also properly aligned too.
