Hi guys. I'm kinda a bit iffy as to upgrading my laptop processor.

Don't get me wrong - the R522 is capable enough, but we all eventually want more.

I know of someone that has upgraded the processor before and had little problems doing so, apart from opening the case, but what i want to know is if this processor is ok for my laptop.

I have done a comparison and they are both identical except for some of the power and etc...

My current processor - Intel Core 2 Duo T6500
Hopefully Future processor - Intel Core 2 Duo T9900

    Here's the comparison - Compare IntelĀ® Products,

The socket for my motherboard PGA478 as far as i know...

Can any of you tech majors please help me with this??

    Thank You!

Looks like a go. Same socket "P". Same TDP.

another important factor is the chipset and whether it will support the new cpu's fsb, which in your case it does. Next factor is the BIOS support.

We already know the the chipset so why pictures? But as Kosti said that does then go to BIOS. Or many things the MFG might of done. In general it is a safe bet other than BIOS but that is normally not an issue unless going dual to quad.

But once again it is what it is and my generalizations mean nothing if I am incorrect. Wrong is wrong. That said OP I think you are good to go.

thanks for the reply guys...i didn't think it would be as complicated as my mate said... he was telling me it goes further than that...

So what you guys are saying is the most important to take in consideration is the BIOS?
