    Hello everyone!

    I have a laptop Alienware m17x R2, with a SSD Samsung PM800 256Go.

I have this laptop since 2011. SSD Life and CrystalDisk shows me that the drive has 7800h of use. It shows Perfect, Health = 99%.

My computer startup super fast, and I don't have any problems while using it.... But when I start download big files, transfering or unarchiving, updating my MMO game, ( basically, every operation about writing data ) the computer become so slow that is impossible to use it.

After some searching, I figured out with AS SSD that my partitions was misaligned.

So I applied this tutorial to re-align the partitions, using Acronis Disk Image ( wiped off partitions and backup the ghost ).

After that, the new results was:

So, there is no more Bad alignment, but the results seems very poor to me. Is that a ok score for a SSD ?

Also, my SSD Firmware is actually: VBM1AD1Q. I can't figure out if there is a new firmware... Or if I just bought my laptop at the wrong time. :'(
( I read that there was a pre-Trim and Trim firmware, and this SSD has a lot of talks on Alienware/Dell/Samsung forums ).

    Thanks for reading :hi2:

Well, the SSD is not exactly modern, and I assume it's not exactly empty either. Those scores look about right to me for what I would expect of that particular model. Good thing you found the alignment issue. I assume no more system slowdown on writes now?

dude -- your 4K writes more than doubled, sequential write increased nearly fivefold, and access write times are a fifth of what they were pre-alignment. the drive's fine. good score.

    Thanks for the answers.

Yes I know the re-alignment increased my score, but I was doubting because on the tutorial, the pictures used showed scores like 300, 500... So I wasn't sure about my 100 :D

Yep, no more freezes. Still not lightning-fast, but still ok.

Do you think there is a better SSD to buy than my actual? (I know that my Chipset does only supports 3 Gbit/s SATA)

ps: and If someone could just tell me about the firmware version for this Disk, I would appreciate.

I finally bought a 840 Pro and I'm so happy with the results here:
