Planning on replacing my WD Scorpio 750GB with a 1TB drive.
Reviews about the Samsung suggest that the drive may not be reliable. Reviews about the WD say that the drive makes a lot of screeching/loud noises.
Both are 1 TB & 5400 RPM. They'll be used as storage, not for OS/Apps, so that's fine I guess.
Any recommendations for 1TB drives? (2.5" only)

I have the 1TB WD Scorpio Blue and it makes no audible noise. I am very happy with the drive, having in mind the performance, capacity, pricing and noise level.

I too have a WD Scorpio Blue drive, and it doesnt make any audible noises at all. Ive had it for half a year now and never had any problems with it. can only recommend it

better yet get 750GB hybrid or WD raptor 10k drive
even if tis storage i still wouldn't go less than 7200 RPM. -
Raptors don't work in notebooks for many reasons. For storage, 5400RPM is fine.

I've read that some people have been able to fit 15 mm drives in some Clevo models & some others have had some luck after some minor modifications, but I doubt it would be possible to fit that into my laptop & work flawlessly. Sager NP9170.
Other than that, can you recommend any HDDs > 750 GB?
I have an SSD for booting the OS & I'm planning on getting a mSATA SSD as well. So I don't really mind if the storage drive spins at 5,400 RPM. -
Isn't it what You have been doing here most of the time?

Shhhh... (peep's will start to expect it). -
Hi,
Similarly, I'm looking for a 1tb 2.5" sata hdd 7mm. Do they exist yet? If so, could someone please provide a link? I want to replace the 500gb hdd in my Acer timeline M5.
Thanks,

Not yet at 7mm. Sorry.
Best option I have found is WD My Passport USB 3.0 externals:

As small as possible, bus powered and robust.
Good luck.
