    Hi all,

I just added a Samsung 980 Pro to my ROG Strix Scar 15 G533 laptop. This is in addition to the existing SK Hynix OS drive. Typically in my systems with Samsung nvme drives I use the Samsung nvme driver. In this case, however, I also have a non-Samsung drive. Can I (and should I) install the nvme driver?

    Thank you,
    mario

I have two NVME drives in my laptop that both use Phison controllers but use the same firmware tool to upgrade them. FW is more important than which driver it's using though from testing w/ and w/o upgraded FW on both drives the speed difference was incredibly different.

Before upgrading one of the drives I started copying data from one to the other and it was slower than a spinner or even a USB 2.0 flash drive until I updated the FW. After the update it exceeded the initial drive by 50% in speed. As far as the driver goes they're both using the default MS driver.
