    The Samsung's Hybrid Hard Drives are finally out for the consumer.
    I found only the 80 and 160 GB version on NewEgg, but I'm sure that the 120 GB one will pop up pretty soon.
    The prices for the 160 and 80 GB one are $149.99, and $99.99 respectively.

    Very cool......... the thing I've wondered about these is, do they need anything specific in the OS (i.e. would these only work with Vista), or would they be beneficial whether you were running Vista, XP, OS X or Linux?

    thats what vista's readydrive is for. no other known compatability

    I am not a 100 percent sure, but from what I've read about the whole technology behind the hard drive I think that no matter what your OS is the hard drive will still use the flash to utilize and increase its performance. Vista has already implemented ReadyBoost to take full advantage of the technology, that's why they worked so closely with Samsung to make this hard drive available. However, without no real world performance charts and comparisons we won't know for sure.
