    1. I want to use an SSD as a secondary drive in my Asus G73 (for data storage and maybe an Ubuntu variant in a few months). Should use MBR or GPT? Eventually I may use it as a primary boot drive (in case the SSD in my Sager or the Asus fails). I am not using UEFI on any of my systems. At this point I am not running Linux on any of my systems so I have to use a Win 7 to do this task.
    2. all of my drive are NTFS, physical & logical sector size is 512 Bytes so I intend to use set up the new SSD this way. Please correct me if this is not the best idea . Thanks in advance
PS I never use more than 3 partitions per physical drive.

Shouldn't be much difference. Main advantage of MBR is it has slightly more compatibility with legacy backup applications though this is mostly a moot point these days.

Thanks Marksman30K, I thought this was going to be easy.. initially (no pun) I used GPT but the BIOS in the Asus did not recognize it (although it worked fine via a USB 3.0 enclosure)
So I secure erased it (Man I should have bought intel, Sandisk does not make this easy) and set it up as MBR, still not recognized. Finally I switched the boot drive (Intel) with the Sandisk (Sata port in the notebook) and finally it was recognized.
    + 1 after I "spread it around"
