i am sure the i12 in a few years when i will get a new machine will outperform everything and without any doubt relating to overclocking possibilities and stuff. lool. The reason i spent so much money for a gaming machine is to be able to play high end games at maximum graphics ( maybe a few less in the end) for 2-3 years. Well noone can persuade me i need more.

As for the less power consumption referred before well there is also an option on R2 called disable turbo mode and set power plan on windows. Finally dont tell me there is even one of us who really spent more hours on battery than dc plugged in. And cpu is not the only thing spending power on a gaming machine.

When I buy my laptop I'm never ever going to think of looking at the laptop market for 10 years!!!

I have read many posts saying an SB and a gfx460 is not a good combination, waiting for gfx 5xx is better. What do you think?

GTX460m offers up similar performance the the 5870m but at a higher power consumption. It is up to preference. Sandy Bridge CPUs will be overkill though for such a GPU as even my QX9300 is sufficient for todays mobile gpus

If your intel core 2 is sufficient for todays mobile gpus then SB processors are going to be an overkill for the new mobile GPUs (gtx 5xx). I don't think the difference would be that much

even an i7-740qm is an overkill.. the only improvement i really see with sandy bridge would be 10-20%.. not worth the upgrade especially with older GPUs.. wait for newer ones..
