Hi all, I'm very tempted to splurge out on a new SB laptop, but want it to cover all bases. One of these is the new WiDi 2.0 with wireless FHD, could anyone here confirm whether this comes as standard with Sandy Bridge quads or only on special sets?

I'm very close to getting an Asus N53SV and will probably be put off if it doesn't have WiDi, but will get it if it does. Just to confirm this is a 2630QM and unspecified (assume generic) wireless (Integrated IEEE 802.11 b/g/n‚Bluetooth)

I'm pretty sure the 2630qm supports it, even though it's not listed there.

Yeah, just cause it's not listed... (don't let that stop you).

Do keep in mind though that there are still 4 other requirements too. :)

Thanks guys, so just to confirm - if it has generic wireless and not one of the Intel Wireless listed it cannot do WiDi? That's a bit disappointing, I guess my SB laptop will have to wait.

WiDi works with a specific SB cpu (listed on intel site) and an intel WiFi card listed above aswell. It will work only with the integrated gfx chipset so only laptops with optimus or no discrete card will make use of WiDi.

Does your SB asus have WiDi? That should be almost the same internals as the N53

Haven't tried couse I do not have a WiDi capable tv but as written on nvidia you would need an intel hd graphics, which the g73sw does not have atm (not enabled from manufacturer). Still the tech is very young and in the future/near future we might see itterations/user modifications that will allow usage of discrete cards. Or maybe the G73SW will get optimus enabled *daydreaming*.
