Anyone know if the new Mobile SB's will be user undervoltable? Reason I ask is because I saw this [IMG]

When CPU-Z was run on a system with a Clarksfield CPU the Core VID was greyed out, for SB it isn't.

With SB the VID can be read from the CPU. AFAIK it should be in 5mV steps but there can be some rounding errors in calculation. As far as undervolting you may find that will only be available with extreme mobile processors via an offset voltage but I can not imagine too many people buying extreme processors to undervolt them rather they would increase voltage. Even then some manufacturers might not even offer adjustment for some of the extreme systems, something worth checking for people serious about overclocking.

Hopefully some people who actually have these systems will be able to confirm or deny the above. ;)

Thus far, no one has successfully undervolted any notebook Core i series CPU. That isn't to say it can't be done, but it hasn't been done yet.

did you try CPUgenie? I was able to undervolt my QX9100 with it, maybe it would work for sandy bridge?

But they have overvolted, and undervolting should be pretty much the same:
    Google Translate

Though I don't see many people doing a hardmod just to undervolt...

I should have specified that I meant software wise, but yes, hardware mods are an option if you're comfortable with it. I don't believe CPUGenie supports them either.
