Read somewhere that it will be launched next year.
But...
What are they exactly?!

the short version: new revision to the i3/i5/i7 line.
there's supposed to be a big benefit to the quad core i7s with better power saving and the ability to use switchable graphics (i7s will now have an on chip gpu like the i3/i5) and other improvements. -

Next time please search and don't start another thread. -
Apologies for not searching.
Just a quick question though:
How long will it be before we get to see these in the notebooks? -
No one knows for sure, but expect laptops in Q1 2011.
-
I see, would the price be sky high then?
Anyway, I am gonna get a new notebook. Do you think its wiser to wait till then, with consideration of price and stuff... -

Prices should fall in line with current models, as those will replace the current lineup.
I'd wait.

You will see these in notebooks on January 5th, 2011. How long until you can have said notebooks in your hand... at least another 2 weeks, more if you're looking for some specific qualities. Prices will be about the same as they are now (otherwise people would just keep buying the old stuff).
-
Right. Meaning to say, notebooks with the current processors will drop in price, while those with the newer processors will be priced higher...
So you'd wait to get the current notebooks at a lower price. Is that what you meant? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
No, current notebooks will only drop in price because they're clearing inventory. The current chips are no longer being manufactured. Sandy Bridge is probably being ramped right now, in anticipation of market demand. New notebooks with the newer processors won't be any more expensive.
I'd wait for Sandy Bridge. It's bringing power optimizations that the current chips lack. -
Prices won't be "sky high", in fact prices will pretty be the same as they are now, except that you will get the newer components. The current notebooks with the soon-to-be older components will drop in price so that ODMs can clear their warehouses of old stock.
