There are all these "Power Saving" features in the new "Santa Rosa". Anyone know how much of an increase in battery life is there? A percentage perhaps, compared to the Core 2 Duos?

Santa Rosa is a Core 2, just in a different wrapper. It should get similar to the Yonah and Merom chips, since it can do both 800MHz FSB and 667MHz (when idling).

Santa Rosa is the chipset Core 2 Duo is a cpu. So you cant compare the two.
The biggest power saving feature in the new chipset is that it throttles the fsb down on the cpu by half when you dont need the power, tho this isnt exactly new tech, I dont have any idea how much it will help your battery life maybe 1 or 2%??
I can tell you what to look forward too for a big increase in battery life tho.
1.) When DDR3 is used in notebooks, your looking at less than half the power used by DDR2
2.) When the 45nm Pentiums come out to replace the current 65nm chips, Santa Rosa already will support the new ones so this is a good reason to move to this platform, they use less power and also have new features that give them higher performance.
3.) Solid State Drives (SSD) think using a big chunk of ram instead of a hard drive, with much less power use, nearly 10x the life span, and virtully no heat created. This will be a big upgrade to a notebook. In speed, Power Management, and Heat Control.
They are already avalible but not economically priced, give it a year or two and anybody that really wants one should be able to afford it.
