Will the Santa Rosa chipsets support DDR3 RAM, or will I have to wait for the Penryn chipset ?

No, they will not, and yes, you will have to wait for at least the 45nm-tuned chipsets for DDR3 support.

Santa Rosa only supports up to DDR2-667.

The Asus G1s has a video card with GDDR3 video ram, which is based on DDR2 technology. Video ram is completely seperate from system ram. Also, penryn isn't a chipset, it's a processor which will fit into both the santa rosa and montevina chipset. I'm not sure if it's been confirmed or not whether the montevina chipset will support DDR3.

any idea when the Montevina chipset is being released? I know the processors are expected for Q2 2008, I'm assuming they'll be co-released?

This means that we'll have to wait until the middle of next year to have DDR3 RAM, right? If so, that stinks.

Penryn is scheduled for H1 2008 and Montevina for H2 2008, I believe.
