So, the fan on my Toshiba will spin up for about 2-4 seconds, then shut off... pretty randomly. It seems to be when the processor load gets over 65-70% or so. The CPU temp is never more than 49C. It isn't super-loud, but it is audible. This is my first laptop, so I don't really know why it is doing this. Beyond this spin up/down, it doesn't seem to run much.

Is this a normal CPU temp for a laptop and is this fan issue normal? I actually returned one of these at first because of the fan, but when #2 did the same, I thought I'd put on the NHC software and see what was up.

Any help for a laptop newb would be great.

    Thanks.

Sounds normal to me. And from your description does not sound random (60%-70% load). ;) Your Temp sounds good. Different apps can read temps differently. Your CPU can not run too cool. On DeLL's some people install an app so they can control there fans. Some even set to always have the fan going. :)

Yes, it`s normal.Temps on laptops need more attention than in a desktop. So when a certain threshold is reached, the fan will do its job to cool it down to a certain temp.
