Hello all,
I just purchased a Toshiba Satellite A500/02J but I would like to replace the keyboard with a backlit keyboard. I have found an A500 compatible backlit keyboard on ebay, but I'm wondering whether the motherboard on the 02J will enable the replacement, or more specifically whether there is a backlit socket on the motherboard. If it doesn't, would it it be hard to obtain?
I thought toshiba might not have included the backlit keyboard in the 02j to try and bring the price down, hence the reason why this model is one of the cheaper a500's on the market. I may be wrong though.
Any advice is much appreciated.

Heyyy, I know it's been a while since... but I have a A500 /031 which also doesn't come with a backlit keyboard...
I opened it up and found it DOES have the backlit connection, I'm ordering an A500 Backlit US keyboard for mine now!

In the image you can see that extra cable that is orange, that's the backlit cable... My laptop has that connection on the motherboard, it just doesn't use it... I'm sure yours would have the same thing!
Makes me wonder why they didn't just add the backlit keyboard in originally though... *shrug -
I also have an A500/031. My letter M is starting to play up so I'm interested to see how you go with that backlit keyboard. Let us know how it goes...
