So I found this guy that's selling a "broken" A65 for very very cheap. He says that the RAM memory is bad, and that the mobo has to be replaced.
In a more detailed description, he took it to geek squad and they said that the "integrated RAM memory" is failing, and he would have to pay $400 to replace the mobo.
Do somewhat recent laptops actually have memory integrated to the motherboard as apposed to slots that dimms go into? I mean I sorta heard this about older laptops, but I can't see how a less than 2 year old machine would have this. I'm thinking that it's simply a bad ram module, but the geek squad is trying to get more money out of him by telling him he has to replace the whole mobo.
So is anyone familiar with this machine, or any other Toshibas? Is there really a memory module integrated to the motherboard that would require a complete mobo replacement as apposed to just a simple memory swap?

I'm not familiar with this model, but a quick Google search seems to indicate that it does indeed have integrated memory. Here is just one of the sites I found regarding this:

Cool thanks.
I searched too, but to no avail. At least not as good as your link. -
That laptop was released in June 04 which would make it over 3 years old.

Research any widespread complaints about this model; trust me, I owned a Satellite A70 and it was the most poorly designed machine ever conceived by man. It had about 4 or 5 major system design faults. Since the A65 is probably closely related to the A70 (and implements a desktop processor in a laptop, another bad idea), it may be prone to significant problems.
Satellite A65 memory.
