    Hey all,

My dad brought over his L25 so I could upgrade the system memory from 512MB to a Gig.

I did the upgrade, booted the laptop, and promptly noticed that it only showed 896MB of system memory. It took me a couple of min to figure out that the ATI 200m shared video memory was eating into the system ram.

Long story short, I can't reduce the amount of memory the video card wants to use. Everything I read about this system/card says I should be able to set the memory usage between 32, 64, or 128MB. However, when I go into the BIOS to do it, 128 is the only option and no amount of F5/F6 or enter up/down arrows will change it.

He doesn't play any games so I'd like to drop it to 64MB at least. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

I have an L100 with the x200m chipset. The IGP can take 32, 64 or 128MB of system memory but the user cannot set this. The chipset allocates it depending on the system ram installed. 256MB total system ram gives 32MB, 512MB gives 64MB, 1GB or more 128MB. Unfortunately I don't think there's anything you can do about that.
