I have a 2-year old Satellite M45-M45, and I just bought an Epson Video Projector to use with it. I can configure the laptop to feed an external monitor, and the projector acknowledges that signal is arriving from the computer, but no usable data. If I change desktop color, projected color changes to match, but it will not recognize any program, particularly the Corel Presentations I made up specifically to project.
At one point, in some way I got the curser projected onto the screen, but it disappeared from the computer. I have not been able to duplicated the effect.
The projector projects a 600 by 800 image, and I have set the external monitor to that setting, but, so far, to no avail.

    Any ideas?

You should have a fn + fxx button which you can press, which changes the gpu output automatically to an external monitor/projector.

Have you went into the graphics settings?
You should be able to click on the desktop, and go to properties. Then go to settings, and you will see information about your graphics.
Click on the box with the "2" in it, this represents the projector. Set the correct resolution, and that should be it.
