    Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to change the screen in a laptop, for example from a 15.4" 1280x800 to a 15.4" 1680x1050, by simply taking the original out and putting new one in. if the screens are identical sizes and the graphics card can handle the resolution, what would be the potential problems associated with doing that??

    cheers

thanks guys... will have a look into it..

apart from the cost, which i can imagine would be pretty high... although i was thinking of finding a used/parts notebook online like ebay or something, do you think that the screen thickness would cause a problem, as i know different brands have different thickness lids and screens...

i guess this was just a long shot, as i am really frustrated with choosing a notebook, as the ideal one doesnt come with a wsxga screen, but i can get a lesser one with that screen... see my post in "what notebook should i buy" section, titled a6ja v a7 v s1... thats my dillema

    cheers

Take a look at this thread: Screen replacement

Screentek seems to carry replacements for many manufacturers which are better than the screens which the notebook originally shipped with.
