Wanted to buy a new monitor for my ThinkPad P50(previous one cracked)...looked up the screen possibilities and found few matching. The problem is now, that the screen connector doesnt seem to fit (looks 1/3 smaller)...even though i counted 40pins on bouth screens ports. How can this be true?

Im looking for help, to the possibility of buying a similar connector, but with a smaller screen pin port
    -Thank you in advance

    - My previous: LQ156D1JW05
    - Newly bought: LQ156D1JX01B
    - From motherboard to screen: 40-40 pins

Wow, not that I'm an expert but I have only encountered one size of LCD side eDP port

if you find a cable that can go from your mobo to your screen can I have your OEM cable?

The LQ156D1JW05 has a 0.5 mm pitch, rather than the ubiquitous 0.4 mm for eDP connectors. There are pnp adapters for that kind of thing, but these are exceedingly hard to find. To-solder options are easier but, obviously, require some soldering; 40-pin 0.5mm adapter board.

These are all listed Sharp models with similar specs., unfortunately all of them are 0.4mm. Could use one of these four options. Only caveat is they lack the side-flap mounting holes, apart from the N44 (wrongly listed as up/down only). There's actually more panels that would fit, but these require double-sided tape in order to fit them to the display lid.

A 40-pin/4-lane/0.4mm pitch cable may be easier, but then you have to look within other Lenovo models to find one; the lcd-end doesn't have that many variants, but the motherboard-end has a multitude of different connectors and even if the connector is identical that does not necessarily mean that the pin-out configuration is the same.
