Recently in another area in this forum someone was talking about how you loose video quality when turning down your resolution from native rez. Is this true only in gaming or will it mess with other aspects like watching streaming video and stuff. Seems like 1920x1080 is too small for web browsing on a 15.6in laptop. Guess you can just turn up the size of icons and text...

At non-native resolutions you might see differences in quality in DVDs, especially HD/BD discs.

Non native will make everything less crisp, including text and images. I personally think WSXGA+ at least is fine on a 15" and WUXGA on a 17" (given that's the highest I've tried on each, respectively) without any tweaks, but everyone's eyes are different. You can always adjust text sizes and such if you feel it necessary.

Which is why standardization was created.
Nevertheless, it's your laptop. So if you want to watch a screen with blue faced people, that's you choice.

That's the easy solution. In Firefox the plugin No Squint makes zooming perfect.

You can also change the DPI in Windows.

Those two solutions are far better than running your screen in non native resolution.

i still don't get what no squint does, firefox zooming is perfect without it. ctrl-mousewheel and you got it bigger.

don't run your screen non-native (except if you scale by a factor of two, that would be, from 1920x1080 to 960x540 :) as this would, again, be sharp)
