    Hey guys.

So, my SeaGate Momentus XT 500GB (latest firmware) suddenly began giving these weird beeps occasionally.
The drive really isn't that old, I previously had one that came with my laptop (clevo) from 2011 and it basically just broke and I got this new one which has some 400-500 hours of se.

    This video illustrates the beeping:

I'd just RMA the thing but since I've learned that what SeaGate basically do is diagnose the HDD in the same way I would - and send it back "unfixed" if the diagnoising came back fine - I figured I best give SeaTools a go. Basically I get "pass" on all tests. S.M.A.R.T in some other hdd programs say that end-to-end error count is 93 rather than 99, so that's the only "fail" I can spot.

Does anyone have a clue what to do?

EDIT (a mere 10 minutes after thread creation): Genius here just came across one of the fifty thousand "issues with seagate momentus xt" threads and discovered someone with exact same noise but worse saying that a program called QuietHDD will take care of it. It does something with resetting the APM which is the feature "behind" the noise.

Anyone with inputs are still welcomed.
