    It is better wait for WD's 1TB SSHD;
    -7mm height instead 9.5mm,
    -16 and 24GB solid-state memory instead 8GB,
    -lower noise output and power consumption,
    -will be very affordable.

    Reviews seemed to indicate they are slower than the last generation Momentus owing to the 5400 rpm HDD speeds. I just decided to go with a Hitachi 1 TB 7200 rpm instead because the WD SSHDs are not due till next year.

    WD already shipping the 5 mm 500GB SSHD, so should not take so long to get 7mm 1TB SSHDs.

    I used one for about a week, right before the Crucial M500 came online. It felt much slower than the 750 GB Momentus XT I had a while back. If you want a SSD hybrid, stick with the 7200 RM drive.

    I meant as retail drives for customers. Anandtech reported that may very well be next year given that all the drives made now are going to the next gen laptops directly.

    Do you mean the Hitachi GST Travelstar 1TB 7200 rpm drive? How reliable are these drives?

    My laptop is 2010 HP dv6t-3200 CTO, i3 2.40ghz with 6gb ram and current hd is WD Scorpio Blue WD5000BEVT 500gb 5400 rpm Sata 3.0Gb/s form factor of 2.5 in, max height 9.5mm. Can my laptop be upgraded with the Hitachi GST Travelstar 1TB 7200 rpm? Does seagate or wd have 7200 rpm drives?

    Yup, that's it. I bought it on sale at Newegg for $75. All reviews so far seem to indicate a very reliable drive, I will be popping in mine today.

    The Hitachi should fit in fine. Seagate and WD do not currently have 1 TB 7200 rpm drives, they got plenty of 750 gb 7200 rpm drives though.
