Hi there I recently put my Seagate 7200.3 320 Hard drive into my Asus Eee1000HA. It is seriously fast and with HDTune I got an average of 80mbps.!
One thing I am very concerned about is it temperature. It ranges from a minimum of 51'C to 57'C..! I have seen that the stated "max" operating temperature for the drive is 60'c and its not far from that..![]()
Do any of you guys have experience with these drives and/or have a similar setup with your netbook.?? What sort of temps are you getting??
-
And whats this Hdd vent mod iv seen mentioned on other forums..! Any advice on keeping my hdd cool are much appreciated!!
-
you're putting a 7200rpm hdd in a netbook... expect some heat
-
I think netbooks don't have a fan - or am I wrong?
The laptop fan not only cools th processor but also the HDD.
The only thing I could think of is putting the nebook on a laptop cooler. -
I think you're unlucky with 7200.3 sample.
My WD1600BEKT stays at 40C. Although that is the one platter version. -
The Asus Eee does have a fan and the drive isnt defective. It ran BELOW 40degrees when it was in my other laptop. Usually around 38'c.
More importantly what I was asking was how does it affect a HDD when it is constantly running at 55'C..?? -
Not necessarily, but possibly increased probability of failure.
-
As far as I know 55 is no problem. 60 is.
-
You use a 7200rpm HDD in a netbook. But i think a net book only have 1 small fan.
-
yeah a 7200 rpm harddrive mostly run hot..........especially in a small confined space were heat is not easily dispersed makes it difficult for the netbook to cool
-
yea, its a lot smaller than a 15.4 housing so considerably more heat is generated... less fans can't be any good either.
-
7200.3 is overheating in sager np8662, 15.4 notebook!
i think there's something wrong with this hard drive model.
Seagate 7200 drive running hot??
