i bought 3 seagate harddrive about 3 months ago, just got time to use it now. and one of them has this loud high pitch whine, that is roughly twice as loud as the other seagate harddrive i've bought on the same day.
so i visit my retailer, they told me to ring seagate, so i go home;
called seagate customer support. a chinese dude answer the phone (i read somewhere they've outsourced their support to beijing, china) the guy there told me to turn on the harddrive so they can hear the whine over the phone, they can clearly hear the harddrive whining, but you know what he said!??! he told me to continue using it as my computer has no trouble recognising the harddrive!??!? then i told them that "how about the whine? the harddrive is clearly has a problem, what if i lost my data??!? who's gonna be responsible for it?" and "...Ah!" he said, the guy just remember i said that the harddrive is whining.
man! what is he on!?! is he day dreaming during his job? he sound like he's on drug or something. well, definetly not happy with seagate. they are hard to get in touch of, the customer support number is hard to get, i've got them through a website. the warranty return procedure is complicated and unpleasant... i'm not happybut we'll see what happened next.
well, called seagate again, this time another guy called isac received the phone and told me to register, and get the collection point number, so i did, now i'm waiting for my userID and password to be sent...
to be continued...?

There should be a forum about support qualities and warranties, because it is good to know how companies respond and which ones are better. Having said that, I think they'll close your thread, since this is about hardware.
